Amplifying Good Vibes
We play upbeat, energetic, old-time fiddle music and other folk tunes. Upright bass and acoustic guitar hold down the rhythm section for accordion, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin.

Meet the Band
The Modpodders – Eric, LaRita, Bradley and Chris – began playing music together in the Fall of 2022. What started out initially as a weekly practice quickly morphed into something special, with the jam sessions out in the ModPod* (see below) running later and later into the night. Before long, they started receiving invitations to play – first, at a big backyard birthday party, then a food truck rodeo, then a wedding, and then a regular gig at a local restaurant. Today, the late-night jam sessions continue, while the band looks to find new ways to share their unique blend of traditional string band music with others.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most local events in Durham or Chapel Hill, NC run for about two hours (two 55-minute sets with a ten minute break). We will send you a customized quote based on the details of your request.
We bring all of our own sound equipment and can handle our own set up and tear down. We use a single 50-watt cordless speaker for amplification, so that everyone can hear the music but not so loud that people can’t converse. We don’t need a stage but we do require a dedicated space for the band measuring about 15′ x 10′. Whether you’d like us right in the middle of everything or off to the side is up to you and depends on the event.
We’re not there to grab attention for ourselves. Our goal is to set the mood for your event. Whether it’s a food truck rodeo, a big backyard barbecue, a catered corporate gathering, or maybe a sunny afternoon at the local brewpub, we’ll help make sure your day is a success and your guests have a memorable good time.
Um, what is a “Modpod”?
The Modpod was built by hand and lives in Eric’s backyard. Originally designed as a small DIY detached home office, it now serves as a piano teaching studio by day, and a cozy space for jamming at night. Its four walls always seem to bounce the sound around just right. Since we play every week together in the Modpod, it felt natural that in time we became – simply – The Modpodders.
